The four were en route to Baton Rouge, La., to pick up a new fire truck for the Gordonville Fire Department. The 1,000-gallon International pumper is being purchased from Ferrara Manufacturing of Baton Rouge.

"The truck is ready, and will be picked up later this month," said Jett, who will be out about two months.

The pileup on the overpass over Highway 18 was one of several multicar accidents reported to Arkansas State Police during the early hours of Dec. 29.
