Leaving two years before his term was set to expire, the vice president of the Gordonville Fire Protection District Board resigned from his position recently, according to a news release from the board Thursday.

John Peters joined the board in 2007, and his term was due to end in 2013. Board treasurer Bill Craig said Peters resigned in order to spend more time with his family.

Current board members are Craig and president Mark Carnell, whose term will expire April 5. His seat will be filled by Shawn Morris, who ran uncontested for the position. Either Craig or Morris will appoint someone to fill Peters' seat on the board.
