Virginia Heckrotte was crazy about a custom she saw in Cincinnati.

"Up there almost every other person has a goose on their stoop, and they always change the costumes," she said. "It seems they want to out-do each other."

So her grandson, who lives there, brought her one for the front of her house at 2021 Sherwood, at the intersection of Robin Hood Circle.

"My grandson, daughter and sister-in-law send me outfits for the goose," said Heckrotte. "I also found a woman in Baltimore who makes them. I'm on her mailing list.

"We keep the goose pretty well-clothed with the seasons."

Heckrotte has had the goose for about three years. When she and her husband, John, have been in the yard, people have stopped to ask about it.

For Christmas, she dresses the goose like Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer.

"I want to get a bunny suit for Easter," she said. "I have a Pilgrim outfit, a cute bikini for summer, and one with glasses and a bonnet."

For the last three weeks the goose has sported a rain slicker with umbrella.

"Next I'll dress her in a spring outfit with ruffled dress, straw hat and sunglasses," she said.

"That's if the weather will let me."
