John C. Seay will be president of the new Golden K Kiwanis Club of Cape Girardeau, which was founded here this week.
"The new club will hold a charter presentation ceremony Feb. 17," said Narvol A. Randol Sr., chairman of the sponsoring committee of the Kiwanis Club of Cape Girardeau.
Arnold Zimmerman of St. Louis, governor of tahe Missouri/Arkansas District, will be on hand for the charter ceremony, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn.
Others who will attend the charter meeting will be Kiwanis International representatives, Lt. Gov. Robert Hicks and past Lt. Gov. Floyd Becker.
The new club was officially organized Tuesday during a luncheon held at the Senior Citizens Center.
Hicks and Becker explained the functions of the various officers of the club, methods of administration and community service programs to the more than 35 in attendance.
The new club will meet each Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the Senior Center.
Other officers elected include Glen Kinder, vice president; Sarah Rice, secretary; and Betty Henderson, treasurer. Nine directors were elected. One-year directors are Dorothy Bowers, Russel Faust and Glenn Lampley. Two-year directors are Jesse Koeppel, Norman Slinkard and James Bowers, and directors who will service three years are Max Stovall, Curtis James and Raymond Jones.

Lillie Barks, Clemon C. Crain, Naomi Crain, Elsie N. Davis, Better T. Henderson, Esther James Max James, Betty Kinder, Robert Koeppel, Delia Lampley, Jack H. Moore, Melvin Rickard, Betty Ross, Thomas O. Ross, Anna Jean Seay, Clarence Schweain, Lena Schweain, T. M. Travelstead and Betty Travelstead.
The new club is one of 9,000 clubs throughout the world, located in more than 80 countries. Total Kiwanis membership is more than 300,000.
