ANNA, Ill. -- A Golconda woman sustained major injures Friday afternoon when her car was involved in a collision with two other vehicles east of Anna.
Betty Broadway, 48, was taken to Southeast Missouri Hospital by helicopter after the accident.
The other drivers were Jason Leek, 16, of Jonesboro and Robert Wells, 42, of Anna. Both were taken to Union County Hospital in Anna with minor injuries.
The accident occurred at 4:25 p.m. on Illinois Highway 146 at Mallard Road. There were no passengers in any of the vehicles.
A spokesman for the Illinois State Police said the accident occurred when the Wells vehicle stopped to turn left onto Mallard Road and was struck in the rear by the Leek vehicle.
Leek's vehicle then traveled across the center line and struck Broadway's eastbound vehicle, the spokesman said.
All three drivers were wearing seat belts.
