KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A man who was fleeing from casino security drowned early Saturday after he leapt over a railing and into the water that surrounds the Isle of Capri, authorities said.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the man, identified as Anthony D. Swopes, 21, of Kansas City, fled after a check of his identification revealed an outstanding bench warrant.

Swopes ran through the casino and out the exit doors after troopers asked him to accompany them to the patrol office to confirm his identification and the outstanding warrant, the patrol said.
