GLEN ALLEN -- Residents of the Glen Allen Fire Protection District will vote Tuesday on a proposal to increase the district's tax levy by 10 cents per $100 assessed valuation. The existing levy is 20 cents.
Projected revenue from the increased tax is $5,000 to $6,000. Passage would put revenue at about $12,000 annually; for fiscal 1992 it was $5,300.
District officials said most of the additional money would be used to provide health insurance for the district's more than 20 volunteer firefighters. The district has almost doubled in area, brining on added expenses, the officials said.
Residents of Glen Allen, Grassy and areas around Castor River are served by the district.
