Otahki Girl Scout Council held their annual appreciation of volunteers dinner recently.
The event honors troop leaders and other volunteers who contribute to Girl Scouting.
The Honor Pin was presented to Dottie Wencewicz, Cape Girardeau; Sally Strickland, Oak Ridge; JoAnn Clements, Perryville; and Beth Guth, Perryville. The Honor Pin is awarded to adults who have given service as an adult for at least seven years at least two levels.
Appreciation Pins were presented to Priscilla Miller, Carole DelVecchio and Mary K. Roe, all of Cape Girardeau; Debbie Ebersohl, Jonesboro, Ill.; Manota Cowell, Glen Allen; Joy Braeuner, Oak Ridge; Sherry Miller, Piedmont; Charlotte Krauss, Perryville; and Barb Scheper, Jackson.
Top cookie sellers of the council were honored: Emilie Statler of Jackson, 605 boxes; Nichole Best of Perryville, 500 boxes; Amanda Jones of Anna, Ill., 491 boxes.
The Juliette Low Award was given to the Cape Service Unit for having the highest rate of penetration of membership. In Cape Girardeau, one of every 3.75 girls is a member of Girls Scouts.
Recognition was given to Mary Kay Day of Cape Girardeau, who served as the council fund drive chairman for the past year. Pat Renard and Mrs. Keith Keller were honored as cookie sales coordinators for the council.
Each of the 11 geographic service units of the council selected an outstanding troop leader and volunteer.
