Dr. Krafft is a lawyer in Munich. His wife and her sister, Christine Wenninger, were exchange students at Southeast Missouri State University during the 1972-1973 and 1962-1963 school years, respectively. Wenninger has three children who attended Southeast during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Ruth Krafft and Wenninger and her three daughters had scholarships due to an exchange program between the town of Memmingen and Cape Girardeau, university officials said.
