Don "Butch" Gast has previously served as Deputy Coroner for the Cape Girardeau County area. He has completed the Medicolegal Death Investigation course at St. Louis University, as well as the Mass Fatality course provided my SEMA. New techniques and a disaster readiness plan are just a few ideas that Don plans to bring to the Coroner's office. After an earthquake disaster drill held in Jefferson City, Don realized the importance of our county being better prepared to handle emergencies.
Gast brings 20 years of medical experience to this position. Ten year's were serve as an EMT and Paramedic for the Cape County Private AmbulanceService. He served his country as a corpsman for six years in the United States Navy. Continuing to work in the medical field, he works for Portamedic Insurance Services as an insurance examiner.
Gast is a life long resident of the Cape Girardeau county area. He and his wife Rebecca have been married for 18 years and have five children. They are devoted members of Covenant Christian Center in Fruitland. Don is a God fearing man who believes that honesty and integrity along with compassion and good morals are need for the coroner position.
