The current and former owners of a gas station in Oran, Mo., will pay $6,000 to the state for failing to comply with rules governing undergound storage tanks.

Ronnie and Sandra Diebold, current owners of the closed gas station, and Marilyn Diebold, are also required to clean up the site under a consent agreement announced Wednesday by Attorney General Jay Nixon.

The Diebolds must determine the extent of contamination and then execute a cleanup under supervision of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, according to a news release from Nixon's office.

If they fail to comply, the Diebolds face an additional $6,000 penalty, Nixon said.
