PACIFIC, Mo. (AP) -- A gas station clerk was shot and killed in eastern Missouri, discovered dead by a customer Tuesday.
Pacific Police Chief Jim Brune identified the clerk as Kevin Henderson, 42, of Pacific.
A customer at the MotoMart gas station and convenience store went inside to pay for gas around 3:15 a.m. The customer found Henderson on the floor, with blood around his head, Brune said.
Brune said he has no motive for the crime. He did not say if the store had been robbed.
"This usually doesn't happen in Pacific," he said.
In the past quarter century, the community has only had three other homicides. All three have been solved, he said. The city straddles Franklin and St. Louis counties.
Brune said the Major Case Squad has been called in to investigate.
