WALTONVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- Funeral services are planned for a Metro East softball star who died this week after a truck she was riding in was swept away by flood waters in southern Illinois.

Twenty-year-old Shannon Allen died Wednesday along with 38-year-old Stephen Healy, who was driving the woman and another companion home from a friend's house.

Allen was a 2005 graduate of Belleville East High School and a standout player on the school's champion softball team.

She graduated from Rend Lake College last spring after being named team MVP.

Visitation is being held Friday evening at Kassly Mortuary in Fairview Heights, where funeral services will be held Saturday.

The third passenger in the truck survived.
