No suspects have been arrested in the attempted robbery that led to the death Sunday of Southeast Missouri State University student Bobby Christman.
Christman, 19, of South St. Louis County, Missouri, was a sophomore and a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at Southeast.
Christman's visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kutis Funeral Home, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road in St. Louis. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Queen of All Saints Parish, 7280 Christopher Road in Oakville, Missouri.
At 12:43 a.m. Sunday, Christman was in a parked vehicle at Lucas Avenue and North 15th Street in St. Louis with his 17-year-old brother and 19-year-old girlfriend when a silver 2004 Chrysler Sebring pulled up alongside the car, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
An armed man got out of the Sebring, opened the rear left door of Christman's vehicle and tried to grab the woman's purse. She resisted, and Christman said something to the gunman, who shot Christman, returned to his car and fled. The other two passengers were unharmed.
Christman was taken to a hospital, where he died about 6 p.m. Sunday.
On Sunday evening, police tracked the suspect's vehicle to the Washington Park area, and shots were fired from the vehicle. After a short car chase with the police, three suspects fled on foot from the car and continue to be at large.
No officers were harmed in the altercation, and it is unclear whether any of the suspects were wounded.
