A sex offender who had who removed his GPS monitoring device last week was apprehended Monday, the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department reported.
Derek K. Kinder, 27, of Jackson was arrested after a short foot chase near Delta, according to a post on the department's Facebook page.
Kinder had been on the run since removing his monitoring bracelet Friday.
He is required to wear the bracelet because of a conviction for child molestation and sexual misconduct involving a child.
Kinder was convicted as a sex offender in 2007 in Scott County with repeated sexual abuse of a young girl over a three-year period, according to previous reporting.
He also pleaded guilty in 2005 to sexual misconduct with a child younger than 14.
Kinder was being transported to the Cape Girardeau County Justice Center. His total bond has been set at $35,000 cash or surety.
