SIKESTON, Mo. -- The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a contract Wednesday for improvements to Interstate 55 and Interstate 155 in New Madrid and Pemiscot counties. The $125,000 contract went to Fronabarger Concreters Inc. of Oak Ridge. The project includes on-call concrete pavement repairs on I-55 from U.S. 60 in Scott County to the Arkansas state line and on I-155. The contract will be in place from summer 2011 to summer 2012, and repairs will be made as needed. As work is underway, lane reductions will be necessary. Overnight closures are possible. Work zones will be marked with signs as the improvements are being made. Drivers are urged to use extreme caution near the work zones and plan for possible delays. MoDOT will alert drivers prior to any change in traffic. For more information, contact project manager Eric Krapf at 573-472-5261 or MoDOT's Customer Service Center at 888-275-6636.
