CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Free testing for sickle cell trait and other unusual hemoglobin types will be offered today in the University Center lobby on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The testing is sponsored by Southeast's Center for Health and Counseling, and Minority Student Services, and the Missouri Department of Health.

Persons whose ancestry is from Mediterranean countries, Africa, the Middle East or Southeast Asia can have abnormal hemoglobin and should be tested, university health officials said.

The testing is being offered not only to the campus community, but to the general public as well.

More information can be obtained by contacting the Center for Health Counseling at 651-2270.
