One program available for people who feel they may suffer from hearing loss is Dial A Hearing Screening Test. Known as DAHST, the program is a free, recorded telephone hearing screening test that allows people to check their hearing levels in the privacy of their home.

When using DAHST, eight technically-tested tones will sound. If you don't hear all eight tones, you are advised to seek a more comprehensive hearing test.

The two-minute recorded message also gives a list of medical problems associated with hearing loss and a referral for further information on hearing awareness.
