The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department, in collaboration with the Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center and the Healthy Communities Coalition, will offer free cooking classes later this summer.
Participants will learn how to prepare healthy meals using seasonal produce from the garden or local farmers market.
The first class, "Appetizers" will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 18 at the Shawnee Park Center, 835 S. West End Boulevard. More classes will be on Sept. 1 and Sept. 15.
Funding for the classes is provided by the Healthy Eating Active Lifestyles grant received by the Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center.
