Siblings ranging in age from 5 to 12 have some basic requests for Santa Claus this year. The children have sent their wish list to him through Toybox because without help from this program their mother wouldn't be able to provide them with gifts.

The oldest, 12-year-old Keith, wants puzzles, games and music. He's really into the characters from the cartoon DragonBallZ. Ten-year-old Kaneisha likes Barbies and Bratz dolls, games and puzzles. Kyla, 8, wants a new baby doll, with black skin color, and a Barbie. She also likes to play games. Lloyd, 5, wants cars and trucks and puzzles.

Toybox is an effort of the Southeast Missourian and Cape Girardeau Jaycees.

Christmas for the Elderly

Mrs. M was hospitalized recently because of stress and had to have surgery for another illness while she was there. She's been trying to recover from a financial exploitation that's left her in enormous debt. Her meager monthly income doesn't leave her any means for paying off her rent and utilities' debt.

Christmas gifts would bring her great cheer. She wants new sweat suits in size medium, pajamas and a warm robe in the same medium size, as well as house slippers. She also wants a new coat and blankets and sheets for a full-size bed. She can use cat food and litter for her pets. Grocery gift certificates also would be helpful, as would a gift certificate to a pharmacy.

Donations can be dropped off at the Southeast Missourian offices. Tax-deductible monetary donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 4, Cape Girardeau, Mo. 63702-0004.
