PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Four Perryville city employees have been fired as a result of an investigation into stolen city property, city officials said in a news release Thursday.
The Perryville city government began an investigation last month into allegations of city property being stolen. This investigation focused on the Public Works Department and initially involved the sale of Perryville's scrap or salvaged material, according to the release.
The investigation has yet to conclude, but the city terminated four employees from its Public Works Department. The names of those employees will not be made public because their dismissal is a personnel matter, according to the release.
The city will not comment further on the investigation, Perryville clerk Tracy Post said. A message left at Perryville police chief Keith Tarrillion also declined comment.
