Tragedy struck a Jackson, Mo., family earlier this month as four relatives died when their single-engine plane crashed into a Wyoming mountain peak.

Joe Litzelfelner, 50, nephew of Jack and Jim Lizelfelner of Jackson, died along with his wife, daughter and a niece March 12.

Joe Litzelfelner had been flying with his wife, Janet, 45; their daughter, Celeste, 13; and a niece, Jessica Morgan, 20. They were traveling to a family reunion from Houston, Texas.

Brothers Jack and Jim Litzelfelner were returning from funerals in Houston, Texas, on Tuesday, a relative said.

The plane had been on a nonstop flight from Garden City, Kan., where the family had been stalled for two days because of bad weather, Wyoming authorities said. The plane had landed there from Houston to refuel.

Other Houston relatives alerted authorities when the four did not show up for the reunion. Joe Litzelfelner, the pilot, reported no problems during his last contact with the air traffic controllers while flying just south of Jackson, Wyoming.

Joe Litzelfelner was the founder of Pegasus International, a Houston-based engineering and consulting firm.
