ST. LOUIS Four people were killed and two others were hospitalized in a seven-vehicle accident on Interstate 70 near Florissant Road.

Killed were: Michael D. Thomas, 23, of Moscow Mills; Charles M. Kinzel, 36, and his wife, Leslie A. Kinzel, 35, of O'Fallon; and Jeannie V. Kaufman, 50, of Creve Coeur.

The Highway Patrol gave this account:

Traffic was slowed for a minor accident involving two vehicles parked on the shoulder when a tractor-trailer rig struck a car driven by Michael Thomas.

Those two vehicles both slid and struck a Dodge Durango driven by Wayne Kaufman. The Durango overturned and struck the rear of a Ford Explorer driven by Lott.
