The Jerry Ford Orchestra will perform a benefit concert March 16 to fund improvements to the Central Junior High auditorium. The auditorium needs new drapes and sound equipment, according to Tammy Samuel, executive director of the Cape Girardeau Public School Foundation.
The junior high jazz band will perform at 2:45, and the orchestra will run from 3 to 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be bought at the door or by sending a check to CGPS Foundation, 301 N. Clark, Cape Girardeau. Students and children are admitted for free.
According to Samuel, the concert marks Ford's 50th year of performing throughout the Midwest. In addition to Ford's orchestra, the concert will include performances by the Water Street Band, Papa Aborigine and St. Louis Sounds Unlimited.
