COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Just a little more than three months after taking over as president of the University of Missouri system, Gary Forsee already has a contract extension.
Curators announced on Friday that Forsee's contract has been extended to five years from three.
The extension will defer the performance-based component of the salary for the full term before any payment would occur.
Curators chairwoman Cheryl Walker says the board is pleased Forsee will lead the university system into the next decade.
Forsee, a Cape Girardeau Central High School graduate, is the former CEO of Sprint/Nextel Corp.
He replaced Elson Floyd, who left Columbia last year for the presidency of Washington State University.
