Don K. Fisher has joined Southeast Missouri Hospital as business development director.
James W. Wente, Southeast's administrator, announced Fisher's appointment Friday.
Fisher formerly was associated with the JCPenney Co. for 32 years, four of them as manager of the Cape Girardeau store.
"He will bring a lot of new talent to us as it relates to business development, business planning and the execution of business plans," Wente said.
Fisher, who starts in his new position Monday, will serve as liaison to business and community leaders and organizations throughout Southeast Hospital's primary service area.
"The future of health care in this region holds many exciting developments," Fisher said. "One of those development opportunities will be to blend health care with business and business with health care."
Fisher has a B.B.A. degree specializing in advertising from Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Tex. His affiliation with the JCPenney Co. included duties as business planning manager and district special events manager for a 12-store district in the Denver, Colo., area, and as store manager in Dodge City, Kan.
Fisher is a member of the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and chairs the chamber's University Relations Committee. He's also a member of the United Way Board of Directors.
