HANNIBAL, Mo. (AP) -- A former northeast Missouri police officer originally charged with statutory rape and statutory sodomy is sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to a lesser charge.
Tim Dann was scheduled for a trial last month. Instead, he pleaded guilty to the lesser felony charge of endangering the welfare of a child. Sentencing was Tuesday.
The prosecutor sought the maximum seven-year sentence.
Dann is a former school resource officer for the Hannibal Police Department. He resigned in December 2006 and was arrested last February, after a Missouri State Highway Patrol investigation in which two females said they had sexual relations with Dann when they were younger than 17.
