Former Farmington corrections worker gets probation

FARMINGTON, Mo. (AP) -- A former corrections employee is placed on five years of supervised probation for having sexual contact with an inmate at the prison in Farmington.

Fifty-one-year-old Ruth Grill of Fredericktown will have a felony record and have to register as a sex offender. She was ordered not to associate with inmates or be present at a prison.

Court records show Grill, a laundry supervisor at the prison, was caught on surveillance video having sex with an inmate.

Prosecutors say Grill maintained she felt pressured, but that she had been trained to avoid such situations. Grill has expressed remorse.
