KENNETT, Mo. -- Police arrested a 34-year-old Steele, Missouri, man Thursday morning on suspected drug charges after a foot chase through a Burger King restaurant.
About 9 a.m., officers noticed an erratically driven vehicle heading east on U.S. 412. When officers began following the car and attempted to stop it for a traffic violation, the driver sped away and pulled into the restaurant's parking lot.
Fleeing the vehicle, the suspect, later identified as Greg Dority, ran through the restaurant and was apprehended as he tried to get out the back door. Capt. Tim Trowbridge, public information officer for the Kennett Police Department, said it appeared Dority was trying to dispose of something.
Officers found a large amount of an undisclosed chemical substance when they searched Dority, along with drug paraphernalia.
Formal charges are pending.
