Starting Oct. 1, the Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center will be offering flu vaccinations.

This year the center, in cooperation with the Missouri Department of Health, will also offer penumonia vaccinations.

Flu shots are available to high-risk groups, persons living with or caring for high-risk individuals or anyone who wants to reduce his or her chances of contracting the flu.

Pneumonia vaccinations are recommended for adults 65 and over, anyone over 2 with long-term health problems or anyone over 2 who is taking any drug or treatment that lowers the body's resistance to infection.

Medicare and Medicaid can be billed for eligible clients. For people who are not eligible, donations are requested for both types of vaccinations.

Flu clinics will be held on the following dates:

-- 9 to 3, Oct. 1 at the Jackson Nutrition Center.

-- 9 to 3 Oct. 2 at the Cape Girardeau Senior Center.

-- 9 to 3 Oct. 8 at the Delta Community Center.

-- 3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 19 at Washington School, 621 N. Fountain in Cape Girardeau.

-- 3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 20 at Jefferson School, 520 Minnesota in Cape Girardeau.

-- 3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 21 at May Greene School, 1000 Ranney in Cape Girardeau.

-- 3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 22 at Franklin School, 215 N. Louisiana in Cape Girardeau.

-- 1 to 7 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Salvation Army, 701 Good Hope in Cape Girardeau.

-- 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Millersville.

Starting Oct. 5, immunizations will be available at the public health center, 1121 Linden in Cape Girardeau, from 8:30 to 11:30 and 1 to 4.
