Florida man charged with luring Cape boy

Florida police arrested a resident of Royal Palm Beach Monday afternoon on charges he lured a 13-year-old Cape Girardeau boy via an Internet conversation to Gardner, Kan., for sex.

Archillis Boglosa, 34, was arrested at his apartment by detective Chris Farron on a felony warrant for "enticement of a child." He was taken into custody without incident and questioned at the station.

This may be the first time this specific charge has ever been filed in Missouri, said Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney Morley Swingle. The statute that created it went into effect in 2002.

According to a probable-cause statement written by Cape Girardeau detective Darren Estes, Boglosa contacted the boy in an America Online chat room Jan. 10. During their instant message session, Boglosa sent the boy his cell phone number and asked the teen to call.

The boy told investigators that he told Boglosa his age several times. The boy also said that when they talked on the phone, Boglosa told him that if he would travel to a St. Louis airport Boglosa would buy a ticket for the boy and fly him to Kansas City, Mo.

The teen stole a vehicle and drove to the St. Louis airport, where a ticket had been purchased for him by Boglosa, Estes wrote in the statement.

Boglosa picked up the boy at a Kansas City airport and drove him to a house in Gardner, Kan., where they eventually engaged in sex, according to the arrest warrant.

Court documents did not reveal how the boy managed to drive himself, whether he was reported missing by relatives or how he returned home.

Boglosa has no known criminal record, said detective Farron of Royal Palm Beach.

The city of Gardner is in Johnson County, Kan. No charges have been filed there against Boglosa, according to the Johnson County District Attorney's Office.

In addition, no charges have been filed against the suspect in Florida in connection with the Cape Girardeau County case, according to Royal Palm Beach police Capt. John Hill. Royal Palm Beach is in central Palm Beach County and has a population of about 22,000 people.

Boglosa likely will appear before a Palm Beach County judge this morning for a first appearance, Hill said.

If he waives his right to an extradition hearing, he could be brought to the Cape Girardeau County Jail as soon as a deputy is available to go get him, Swingle said. Otherwise, the process could take around 30 days. He remains in custody in lieu of a $50,000 cash-only bail.
