Beginning Monday, the gates in the Mississppi River floodwall will be getting a fresh coat of paint.

Only one gate will be closed to public access at a time, according to an email from the city of Cape Girardeau, so the river will still be accessible. Both gates will reopen during evenings and weekends.

Work will begin with the Broadway gate. The project is expected to take two to three weeks, weather permitting.
