Five student soloists will have the honor of performing with the Southeast Missouri State University Orchestra in a concert Tuesday at Academic Auditorium.
The five are winners of the university's Concerto and Aria Competition.
The orchestra also will perform Dvorak's "New World" Symphony in the 8 p.m. concert.
Danna Dockery, who has been appearing in the female lead in the University Theatre's production of "The Music Man," is the only vocalist chosen to perform with the orchestra. Dockery will sing the "Musetta's Waltz" from "La Boheme." She is a student of Dr. Christopher Goeke.
Trombonist Bryan Hardester, who was a drum major for the Golden Eagles Marching Band for two years and hosts KRCU radio's "Caffe Concerto" program, will perform Mozart's Concert Rondo for Horn. He is a student of Dr. Robert Gifford.
Flutists Shelly Monier and Maggie Montgomery will perform together in the "Souvenir de Prague" by Hungarian composers Franz and Karl Doppler. Monier five flute lesson in her hometown of Perryville and has been a member of the Missouri All-Collegiate Band. Montgomery has performed with the St. Louis Flute Choir and the Washington Civic Choir.
Both Monier and Montgomery are music education majors taught by Paul Thompson.
Weaver won the Missouri Music Teachers Association State Piano Auditions as a high school senior in 1995 and won the 1996 Collegiate Missouri Music Teachers Association Piano Auditions in the lower undergraduate division.
She studies with Dr. James Sifferman.
