PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- A burglary in Altenburg, Mo., led authorities to the Cape Girardeau County jail to locate suspects, said Perry County Sheriff Gary Schaaf.
Five men already in custody on charges of theft and arson had additional felony charges added last week in connection with a burglary at the Gas-O-Mart in Altenburg.
According to the sheriff, money, cigarettes, sunglasses and other items were reported stolen from the convenience store on April 5. After investigation, warrants were issued for the arrest of five Jackson men: Jason B. Hecht, 17; Jeremiah J. Hecht, 21; David L. Sweeney, 19; Steven D. Edmonds, 19; and Trae C. Bell, 19. They are charged with class C felonies of second-degree burglary and stealing more than $500.
The five men will be brought to Perry County under $5,000 cash-only bonds after their charges originating in Cape Girardeau County are completed, Schaaf said.
