Five area fire departments responded to two brush fires in Millersville Sunday evening, but neither fire caused injuries or structure damage.
Millersville Fire Department chief Jerry Aufdenberg said his crew, along with the North County, Sedgewickville and Jackson fire departments, responded to a call of a brush fire at the corner of county road 350 and 354 at around 4 p.m. Sunday.
Aufdenberg said between 125 and 150 acres burned on the property before the blaze was contained at 9 p.m. Thirty minutes after the crews arrived on the scene they received a call to respond to a 35-acre brush fire off Route B in the area. Aufdenberg said some members of the Millersville and North County fire departments left the scene to join the Fruitland Fire Department in the hour-long effort to contain the blaze.
