SIKESTON, Mo. -- Five Sikeston residents were arrested after a tip led Sikeston Department Public Safety officers to a meth lab.
Cleon "Cody" Milton, 34, Alicia McKenzie, 28, Heather Propst, 22, Joshua Propst, 25, and Richard Ring, 34, were charged on Scott County warrants Monday with manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and five counts of endangering the welfare of a
child.
Bond for Milton, Joshua Propst and Ring was set at $75,000. Bond for Heather Propst and McKenzie was set at $50,000.
The arrests came around 11:15 p.m. Monday when Sikeston Department of Public Safety officers arrived at 210 Harry St. after receiving a tip on a methamphetamine lab. Officers discovered an odor associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine, according to a department news release.
"Officers made contact with the residents and because of the toxic fumes, immediately evacuated the home of the five adults and five children," according to a department official. Other personnel responded and assisted in venting toxic fumes from the
home.
After a resident gave detectives permission to search the residence, detectives donned protective equipment and entered the home. Inside, officers found the meth lab, ingredients and some finished product.
Following the arrests of the adults, Public Safety contacted the Scott County juvenile office and Missouri Children's Division to ensure safety of the children, ranging in age from 1 to 7. They were placed with other family members for the time
being.
