FIRST SOUTHEAST MISSOURI RESIDENT TO HEAD GROUP IN 106 YEARS; CAPE MAN ELECTED SHRINER POTENTATE

Kenneth E. Myles of Cape Girardeau has been elected as the 103rd Potentate of the Moolah Shrine Temple in St. Louis.

Myles, an insurance broker and real estate developer, has been a member of the ascending line of officers for the past 10 years. He is the first person from Southeast Missouri to be elected potentate in the 106-year history of the St. Louis organization.

As potentate, Myles will be responsible for activities of the nearly 7,000 Shriners residing in the eastern half of Missouri.

A member of both the Scottish and York Rites, Myles joined the Moolah Temple at Sikeston in 1969. He was one of the organizers of the Cape Shrine Club in 1971 and served as its second president in 1973. He has also been an active member of the Sikeston, Poplar Bluff and Cairo, Ill. Shrine clubs, and the Moolah Air Patrol.

Myles is a native of Downers Grove, Ill. He is a graduate of North Central College in Naperville, Ill., and the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.

He operates a branch agency in Cape Girardeau for the Kirn Insurance Agency of Perryville. He is also a member of the Cape West Rotary Club.

Moolah is one of 180 Shrine temples in North America. The Shrine organization maintains 19 orthopaedic hospitals and three burn treatment centers, where children are treated free of charge.
