Heather Burger and Steven Trankler are the recipients of the First Financial Bank of Southeast Missouri Scholarships for 1996. Burger, daughter of Robin and Nancy Burger of Oran, has been one of the top honor students at Kelly High School. She was involved in the Future Homemakers of America, Future Business Leaders of America, the Beta Club, Pep Club, Future Farmers of America (secretary/treasurer), varsity basketball, softball, Student Council, New Hamburg 4-H (president), St. Lawrence CYC (president) and JCPenney Teen Advisory Board.
She was chosen to attend Girls State, the 4-H Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., and received the FFA Area Farmer and Star Chapter Farmer Awards. Burger plans on attending Southeast Missouri State University and majoring in elementary education.
Steven Trankler, son of Charles and Sondra Trankler of Oran, was a top honor student at Oran High School. Trankler was active in Future Business Leaders of America, Future Homemakers of America, band, track, Student Council and basketball. He plans on attending Southeast Missouri State University and studying sports medicine and business.
