ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) — Fireworks are being blamed for a fire that destroyed a home in St. Charles and left a neighboring home badly damaged.

The fire happened Monday as a father and son were shooting bottle rockets. No one was hurt.

Firefighters believe the father accidentally set a bag of fireworks on fire. It took firefighters nearly an hour to get the blaze under control.

Damage to the home is estimated at $150,000. The heat also melted the siding on the house next door.
