The Sikeston Department of Public Safety is investigating an early-morning fire that caused extensive damage to the exterior of a school building Saturday.
Police arrived at G Building, which houses adult education classes at Sikeston High School, to find visible flames and heavy smoke coming from the back of the building. The fire was quickly put out, but considerable damage was done to the covered walkway and brick facade of the building. It was unknown Saturday afternoon how cardboard boxes and other materials found leaning against the building caught fire.
