No one was injured when fire broke out in one of the city's recycling buildings Wednesday afternoon.
Firefighters responded about 4:05 p.m. to a fire in a metal structure at 2007 Southern Expressway, said battalion chief Mark Starnes. The building was unoccupied when firefighters arrived.
Cardboard near and possibly inside a baler was burning, Starnes said. Eighteen firefighters responded to the call and brought the blaze under control in about 10 minutes, firefighters said.
The extent of the damage and the cause of the blaze were unclear Wednesday afternoon.
