What's one great thing about Old Town Cape? Better yet, what are 50 great things about the city's historic commercial district?

Old Town Cape is inviting area residents to share their ideas for the 50 Fabulous Features of Old Town Cape contest.

"We hope the public will be creative with their responses," said Marsha Toll, promotions committee chairperson.

Entrants should describe their favorite feature about Old Town Cape in 10 words or less and deliver it to an Old Town Cape business displaying a 50 Fabulous Features poster in its window. The contest is open to individuals ages 21 and older. Submissions should include a name, address and telephone number.

Grand prize will be a catered dinner for 12 on the grounds of Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus. Second prize is a photography sitting by Neumeyer Photography. Third prize is a set of Old Town Cape Christmas ornaments.

Deadline for entries is March 30.

Toll said that beginning on March 1, there will be weekly drawings for gift certificates for contestants at participating businesses.

Individuals whose entries are selected as one of the "fabulous 50" will receive a poster and commemorative T-shirt.

Toll said Old Town Cape includes a 130-block area of Cape Girardeau's historic business districts.

Contest sponsors are the Southeast Missourian, Horizon Screen Printing and Promotional Products, Concord Printing Services, KFVS 12, Neumeyer Photography, Jan's In the Wine Caller, Holiday Happenings and My Daddy's Cheesecake.
