Final plans have been completed for Phase II construction of the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum by Ford and Sons Funeral Homes and Monument Co.
"The architect was in Cape Girardeau recently to discuss the final plans for fulfillment of the original concept of the project," said Kevin Ford of Ford and Sons. "The original mausoleum structure was built three years ago with expansion in mind."
Construction of Phase II will start about mid-June and will include expansion of the mausoleum and a chapel.
The mausoleum will be fully enclosed, said Ford.
The original mausoleum was designed for 300 crypt burials and 120 cremation inurnments.
"A mausoleum offers an affordable alternative to ground space," said Ford. "The building has a modern design."
Additional information concerning the new expansion is available by contacting Ford and Sons.
Ford and Sons acquired Cape County Memorial Park in 1984. The Cape Girardeau firm was founded as Ford-Young Funeral Home in 1949, and became Ford and Son in 1957. Walter Joe Ford is president of the firm, which became Ford and Sons when his sons, Cliff and Kevin, joined the operation.
