Jim Welker has been nominated to receive the National FFA organization's Honorary American FFA Degree.
Welker was nominated for the degree by the Missouri FFA Association and the nomination was approved by the National FFA Board of Directors at their recent meeting. The Honorary American FFA Degree is the highest award presented by the FFA. This year 188 teachers and supporters of agricultural education were nominated to receive the degree during the 66th national FFA convention in Kansas City Thursday through Saturday.
Welker has been involved in the Missouri Association for 15 years. During that time, he taught agriculture education at Delta R-5 High School for nine and a half years. He also served as the local FFA adviser. He is currently the district supervisor for agricultural education with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. He has swerved as a judge for the National FFA Proficiency Awards and also assists with the National FFA Dairy Contest.
