Ten spots remain in the March 9 beginning Internet class offered by the Southeast Missourian web staff.
The class will be held from 7-9 p.m. in Dempster Hall, on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. The university is a co-sponsor of the community training.
The day class on March 18 is filled, but a waiting list has been established.
Individuals interested in taking the class should call Joni Adams or Peggy Scott at 335-6611 to register. Payment of $10 must be made before the class starts, and can be mailed or dropped by the newspaper at 301 Broadway.
The class draws from a large region. For example, those registered for the March 18 class are from Benton, Sikeston, Marble Hill, Wyatt, Farmington, Ste. Genevieve, and Miller City and McClure in Illinois.
Members of the online staff at the Southeast Missourian first began offering the classes last spring, and then reintroduced them in August. The same class is offered twice each month, and has been a sell-out each time. Participants have ranged in age from 8 to 94.
In addition, individuals can also sign up for a repeat of the class on April 13 class from 7-9 p.m., or April 15 from 1-3 p.m.
The class is geared to beginners who want to learn more about the Internet and World Wide Web. Practical surfing tips will be offered along with a number of handouts and a free gift.
Six staff members from SEMissourian.com, the official web site of the Southeast Missourian, will be on hand to direct students.
Each class is limited to 38 people, and students have their own computers.
Future classes will be held on the second Monday and third Wednesday of each month.
