Again this year, at this event, luminaries made by the Girl Scouts will illuminate the courthouse lawn and the lights surrounding the courthouse will be lit, kicking off the holiday season in the city of Jackson.

The community is invited to attend and hear Girl Scouts sing Christmas carols at 6:15 p.m. on the steps of the courthouse, followed by hot chocolate and cookies for all present. Santa will be seeing visitors throughout the evening. New winter items (socks, underwear, hats, gloves, mittens, etc.) for children and adults will be collected for the Elks Christmas Basket project, which serves many needy families of our area.

In the event of bad weather, the event will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at the same time and location.
