JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- FEMA officials are in the process of recalling emergency food kits containing packets of peanut butter.
Commercial meal kits with peanut butter packets manufactured by Boca Grande Foods and assembled by Red Cloud Food Services were distributed as part of the recovery efforts in neighboring Arkansas and Kentucky. None were delivered to Missouri, according to FEMA officials, but they remain cautious.
"If there is any doubt about any food item, throw it out," said Tom Hall, FEMA federal coordinating officer.
FEMA is mailing fliers to Arkansas and Kentucky homes to extend the warning, but officials said no one has reported becoming ill from the food.
