The Felker family is headed to New York for breakfast on the FX channel's "Breakfast Time" program.

"We're the family!" said Susie Felker of Cape Girardeau.

Felker, her husband, Russ, and three of their four children will appear on the program June 27. The unconventional morning news program is broadcast live from a studio resembling an apartment.

The program airs in Cape Girardeau from 7 to 8 a.m. on cable Channel 26.

Felker children Brent, 21, Rob, 17, and Shannon, 15, will be on the show. Son Russ is working and can't attend.

Susie Felker said she started watching the "Breakfast Time" program because she tired of watching news about the O.J. Simpson trial. "Breakfast Time" offered a change of pace.

"It's a very relaxed atmosphere," she explained. "Whatever happens happens. A lot of times they get stars who just show up."

"I noticed that every day they have a family on the show," Felker said. "And I thought why couldn't we be the family."

In April, the Felkers took a trip to New York with daughter Shannon and inquired about appearing on the program. Instead, they got a tour of the studio. But at the end of the tour, studio officials said if you are ever planning to be back in New York, give us a call.

The Felkers are taking their children to a performing arts summer camp in New York this month.

"I called and thought this is a long shot, but the kids love acting," Felker said. The family was booked for June 27.

The Felkers have no idea what might happen during the program.

"I mentioned taking the kids to camp, and they said they might want to do a segment on camps," she said.

Other families have had beauty makeovers, impromptu trips to portrait studios, and have been interviewed about sibling rivalry. The families always eat breakfast.
