The FBI credits quick action by local police departments and tips from the public with helping authorities solve nearly three-fourths of the bank robberies in eastern Missouri last year.
The bureau is asking the public for help finding out who was responsible for two unsolved robberies this spring in Southeast Missouri.
Just before 11:30 a.m. March 17, two men walked into First Commercial Bank in Essex, Missouri, took control of the bank and robbed it, injuring two employees in the process, the FBI reported.
The robbery, which followed a pair of 2013 robberies at another First Commercial Bank branch, prompted changes in the company's security policies and equipment.
About 9:30 a.m. May 9, a man used "a demand note and suspicious device" to rob the Bank of Missouri at 440 Broadway in Cape Girardeau.
No one was hurt, but authorities still are looking for the suspect.
Details about both cases can be found online at bandittrackerstlouis.com.
Anyone with information about either robbery is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS.
