LINCOLN, Mo. -- The FBI said it is investigating the apparent kidnapping of a 1-month-old baby boy, who disappeared Wednesday from his home in this rural western Missouri town while his mother was in another room. Jesse Peaster, born Jan. 9 to Nancy and Jake Peaster, was taken from his Benton County home around 10 a.m., according to the Benton County Sheriff's Department.
FBI spokesman Jeff Lanza said the only witness to the abduction was Jesse's 4-year-old sibling. Jesse's father was not at home at the time.
The child described two kidnappers, a white male and female. The male had white hair and a ponytail and was wearing a camouflage hat, a bright blue shirt and blue jeans. The child also described a white female with brown hair and some type of tag on her shirt, which could possibly be a name tag from a business.
The FBI had few other details, Lanza said.
An Amber Alert issued by the Missouri State Highway Patrol said Jesse was wearing a blue, one-piece sleeper.
"Right now, it's too early to tell whether this was a stranger abduction, or anything else," Lanza said.
Lincoln is near the intersection of U.S. 50 and 65, meaning a kidnapper would have easy access to major roads and could be out of the state within a few hours, Lanza said.
